How do I get vcel on my phone?

You can use VCEL on your phone in two ways (more to come soon). You can either use the Java application, or the mobile website (WAP site), www.vcellspace.com.  In order to use the Java app, you will need to have a phone that runs Java (Verizon people can use the WAP site) and an active data connection.  If you don't have data service, you can call your carrier and get one simply.  If your phone won't run the Java app, you should use the WAP site.

What's the difference between using WAP and using the Java application?

WAP is more widely supported but the Java app is cooler (at least that's what we think). With the Java app, you can snap and send photo comments on your camera phone all inside the app. You can check (and send) your latest MySpace Mail such as Private messages, comments, and Bulletins. You can update your call availability status, MySpace profile pic, and other great features. give the app a test drive on your phone and tell us what you think.

The mobile website (WAP) is more focussed on providing the easiest way for you to get to your important MySpace Mail, private messages, bulletins, and commenting.  If you do use WAP make sure to save the address, www.vcellspace.com, in your bookmarks or favorites so that you don't need to type it in every time.

What is the "MySpace Away" status widget?

This is an HTML widget that you embed into your MySpace profile, just like any photo galleries or pics. Once it is in your profile and you start using either the WAP site or the VCEL app, you can update your current call availability status and mood and it will sync up with the widget in your profile. The widget is a great way to keep your friends updated about whats going on with you.  We highly recommend  that you simply copy and paste the widget into your My Space profile to get the full VCEL experience.
We will be expanding the  features of the widget, so stay tuned :)

Do you need to register or pay for any of the VCEL services?

No, this service is available to all users for free without registration. You also will need to be a registered www.myspace.com member. So if you dont have a profile yet go ahead and sign up.

You only pay for your phone and Data services to your mobile operator. We recommend that you get an unlimited data plan so you can fully enjoy the advantages of the mobile web.

Do I need a particular type of cell phone to have access to this service?

To use the Java App you need to have a Java and data enabled phone, for now the app works best with the phones that we have listed. We are working to cover as many phones as possible, so if you dont have one of the phones in our list then send us a request and we will work hard to add it. For the Mobile site, it works on any data enabled phone. If you can visit www.google.com on your phone then you should be able to get to www.vcellspace.com too. So dont wait and check it out on your phone :)

I'm having trouble with the Java app, whats going on?

There could be a number of things wrong. There are a lot of phones, and they don't all run Java the same (which makes our job way hard).  Probably the most common problem is with the HTTP connection.  Some carriers, like t-mobile, will allow WAP access but not a direct HTTP connection for a Java app.  So if you can't get it working, email us about your problem (the email address is below) and try the mobile site, vcellspace.com, to handle all of your MySpace mail needs on the go.  It's pretty cool!

How do I invite my friends to VCEL?

You can use the Mobile Site, vcellspace.com, to invite all of your friends. You know they dont want to pay for an expensive Helio phone or the 2.99/month Cingular is going to charge.

Or you can use the WAP site and/or Java app and post a comment directly on your friends MySpace walls to let them know about the service. Just tell them to go to our web site and they should be able to figure it out from there (we try to make everything as straightforward as possible).

What kind of data does VCEL store on the server?

VCEL's servers will not store any user data, log information, or content of any form. The only time we temporarily use any of your information (or MySpace.com) is for the duration of the user initiated session. Meaning as soon as you log out we erase everything to do with your info and content from our system, and if you forget to log out the session times out so dont worry :)
